The University of Melbourne partners with Rimini Street to reduce risk around its Oracle IT systems
The University of Melbourne has partnered with end-to-end software support provider Rimini Street, aiming to reduce risk and increase innovation around its Oracle IT infrastructure.

The University of Melbourne will use Rimini Support, Rimini Connect and Rimini Protect, allowing it to deliver an improved student experience.
“Today’s students expect to be online, whether that’s curriculums or access to resources,” explains Daniel Buttigieg, director of enterprise technology at the University of Melbourne. “The savings we’re achieving by moving to Rimini Street are enabling us to reinvest and refocus on developing new digital solutions and enhancing online access for our users.”
The institution says it previously did not have support from Oracle for its customizations, leading to delays in responsiveness.
By switching to Rimini Street, Buttigieg says the University will now have support for its core systems, without having to dedicate funds to unnecessary upgrades.
Rimini Streets says this will reduce costs for the University, while also opening up new opportunities for growth.
“The education industry is highly competitive, and staying on the forefront of innovation requires investment of people, time and money,” Dion Rooney, Vice President, industry team and retail solutions, at Rimini Street adds.
“We’ve helped many higher learning institutes across Australia, New Zealand and abroad, accelerate their timeline to executing their vision simply by providing better support and the ability to optimize and redirect their resources towards modernization and strategic initiatives. Now that’s a smart move that both the school and students can equally benefit from.”
Earlier this year, the University of Melbourne Mobile Learning Unit announced it had selected Rimini Street to manage its Salesforce operations. The Mobile Learning Unit will use Rimini Street’s Salesforce services to strengthen course delivery, case management, and student support operations.
