The Interledger Foundation launches NextGen Higher Education Grant to support digital inclusion

The Interledger Foundation, a US-based non-profit, has launched a new grant aimed at fostering financial inclusion using digital payment innovation.

The Interledger Foundation’s NextGen Higher Education Grant will provide up to $50,000 to higher education institutions committed to empowering students to advocate, champion and develop solutions for inclusive digital financial systems.

The NextGen Higher Education Program aims to support research, curriculum development and training to give students and educators expertise in open-payment technologies and digital finance.

"Creating programs like this aligns with Interledger’s mission to expand access to digital financial services for the 1.4 billion people currently excluded from traditional banking," says Chris Lawrence, Chief Program Officer at the Interledger Foundation. "The NextGen Higher Education Program serves as a catalyst, empowering students to innovate and lead the development of inclusive digital financial systems."

The Interledger Foundation welcomes Letters of Intent from diverse education institutions planning to open or expand programs offering real-world experiences in open-source practices, open-payment technologies and digital financial systems.
