PowerSchool launches new AI-powered coaching and mentoring platform for K-12 educators

PowerSchool Coaching and mentoring, powered by PowerBuddy AI, is designed to offer coaching insights and personalized mentoring experiences and help improve teacher growth and retention.

The new AI-assisted coaching platform, created by cloud-based software provider PowerSchool, automates routine coaching workflower, enabling coaches to focus on delivering more effective experiences.

Built specifically for K-12 education, the platform aims to support school districts as they attempt to address educator retention rates. PowerSchool Coaching and Mentoring provides actionable insights, saving time and supporting school leaders to make informed decisions to improve instructional quality and impact.

“With rising teacher shortages and increased pressure on districts to support and retain their educators, Coaching & Mentoring offers an innovative, next-generation solution to strengthen coaching,” explains Shivani Stumpf, Chief Product and Innovation Officer at PowerSchool. “We’re not just simplifying coaching with this transformative new approach; we're driving real results including improved teacher morale and increased job satisfaction to accelerate student achievement. With scalable adoption across districts and enhanced collaboration between coaches, mentors, and educators, we’re creating a more cohesive, efficient, and impactful coaching experience.”

Robyn Narahara-Correia, Director of Human Resources Development at Visalia Unified School District, adds: “Customers piloting the platform are already seeing results. I entered our state standards – no detailed descriptions needed – and the system did the rest. The AI-generated check-in summary and categorization are amazingly accurate.”

PowerSchool says its platform does not rely solely on AI-powered coaches, maintaining the value of human interaction while streamlining documentation processes.

The PowerSchool Coaching and Mentoring platform automatically transcribes mentor-mentee sessions, reducing the administrative burden on coaches and tracks key metrics to help assess program efficiency and identity areas for improvement. The platform can be adapted to different coaching models, including in-person and online.
