IHT releases Spirit Heart Rate Monitor to support physical and emotional health in K–12 students

Interactive Health Technologies (IHT) has introduced the Spirit Heart Rate Monitor, a new wearable device for K–12 students that connects physical activity with emotional awareness.

The launch coincided with Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day and builds on the company’s ZONE monitor.

Based in Austin, Texas, IHT develops technology for schools that links physical education with mental and emotional wellbeing. The Spirit Monitor tracks heart rate during activity and reflection, helping students build self-regulation and stress management skills.

Biofeedback system targets classroom and counseling use

The Spirit Heart Rate Monitor provides students with real-time biofeedback as they engage in physical movement and moments of reflection. According to IHT, the goal is to build skills in self-regulation, stress management, and emotional development through direct awareness of how physical and emotional states interact.

Jen Ohlson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of IHT, says: “The launch of our next-generation monitor marks a new chapter in our ongoing mission to deliver thoughtful, innovative solutions for students, their families and the educators who support them. Designed specifically for children and young adults, the Spirit Monitor uses smart, intuitive heart rate technology to help students take greater ownership of their physical and emotional wellness. It links mental and physical well-being — helping students understand how they feel, how they move and how those experiences shape their daily lives — while giving teachers, parents and mental health providers a simpler, more effective way to support that growth.”
