Google’s AI-powered research tool Gemini Notebook has unveiled a new suite of features designed to give users and more personalised and powerful learning experience.
The new tools complement and enhance existing features, and are grounded in the user’s trusted sources allowing them to interact with information in new ways, including turning material into audio or video overviews, mind maps and infographics.
The new features allow students to:
Capture more sources: Users can capture lecture notes and thoughts on the go through the audio recorder on the mobile app. These can be organized alongside sources for easy reference, citation and ongoing editing.
Personalize studying: Unlock more personalized learning with interactive learning overviews to generate customized study guides, while improved quiz formats (short answer, multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank) help students focus their exam prep where it matters most. Rolling out to all users in the coming weeks.
Chat with notebooks: Voice chat lets users engage in real-time conversations with their materials for step-by-step guidance with every response grounded in their sources. Available on the mobile app (Android/iOS) in nearly 100 languages, rolling out to Google AI Ultra subscribers (18+) and coming soon to Google AI Pro and others.
Engage with video formats: Short Video Overviews provide bite-sized educational videos in ~60 seconds and are available in 80+ languages making it easier to understand complex topics.
College students in the U.S. are eligible to receive Google AI Pro and students in 140+ markets outside the U.S. are eligible to receive Google AI Plus, for one year free of charge, unlocking higher usage limits in Gemini Notebook. Students can claim the offer here.
The new functions will be rolled out to Gemini Notebook users on web and mobile in the upcoming weeks. Users will need to confirm their personal gmail address to gain access.
