Girls Who Code launches ‘Speak On It’ campaign, aiming to spark conversations around inclusive use of AI
Girls Who Code, an international non-profit focused on closing the gender gap in technology, has launched a new campaign - Speak On It.

Aiming to start conversations around inclusive AI, the campaign amplifies youth voices and allows them to see themselves as active AI creators.
Girls Who Code says 71 percent of the AI workforce is currently male, creating a gender gap in the development and use of the technology.
"Speak On It amplifies the voices of girls and nonbinary youth 一 the very people being left out of the rooms where AI is being created," says Tarika Barrett, CEO of Girls Who Code. "We believe AI can be a force for good, but only if it reflects the voices and values of all people. We need to prepare the next generation to shape AI responsibly, ethically, and creatively."
The month-long campaign will include creators sharing their views online and a special episode of the TikTok show Are You Okay, launching on 20 October. Girls and non-binary youth will be invited to share their thoughts on AI via text with the Hot Take Hotline.
Girls Who Code has also shared a report, titled Youth & AI: What Young Women Think About Generative AI, sharing a study conducted with UCLA exploring Gen Z girls and non-binary youth views on generative AI and its influence on their identities and futures.
Earlier this year, Girls Who Code partnered with OneStream, a finance management platform, aiming to close the gap in technology and finance by expanding education, mentorship, and career pathways for young women.
