Ellucian completes acquisition of Anthology SIS and ERP business
The deal brings more than 260 institutions into Ellucian’s portfolio and reshapes the student systems market following Anthology’s Chapter 11 process.
Ellucian has completed the acquisition of Anthology’s Student Information Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning business, closing a transaction that expands Ellucian’s footprint across higher education and consolidates a significant portion of the SIS and ERP market.
The acquisition closed on December 31, 2025, following Ellucian’s successful bid during Anthology’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy process. More than 260 Anthology SIS and ERP customers now join Ellucian’s global customer base.

Ellucian confirmed that it will continue to support and maintain Anthology’s existing SIS and ERP platforms, positioning the transaction as a continuity-focused transition for institutions already using those systems. Customers will retain access to current products while gaining access to Ellucian’s wider technology and services portfolio.
In a LinkedIn post shared last week, Laura Ipsen said the acquisition had been completed and welcomed Anthology staff and customers into the Ellucian community. Ipsen wrote: “This acquisition marks an important moment for Ellucian as we extend our vision — to unlock learning for all — to an even broader community of institutions and learners.”
With the transaction finalized, Ellucian adds Anthology’s SIS and ERP customers to its existing base of more than 2,800 institutions globally. The move strengthens Ellucian’s position as a higher education-focused technology provider at a time when institutions are reviewing system resilience, vendor stability, and long-term product roadmaps.
Ellucian said it will prioritize operational continuity for newly onboarded customers while expanding access to its broader platform, including analytics, lifecycle tools, and AI-enabled capabilities already in use across its customer base.
Ipsen continued: “As we welcome Anthology’s SIS and ERP customers and the teams who serve them to Ellucian, we remain focused on continuity, a seamless transition, and empowering learners for a lifetime of education.”
Ellucian said the expanded portfolio will support institutions across the student lifecycle, from recruitment and enrollment through retention, finance, and alumni engagement, while maintaining a sole focus on higher education.
