Codie Blocks partners with Scratch to teach children coding skills using hands-on tools and a digital app

Codie Blocks, an early learning tool that focuses on coding skills, has partnered with Scratch, a free coding community for children. The two companies are offering a hands-on tool that teaches young children coding skills.

Designed for children aged between three- and seven-years-old, Codie Blocks combine tactile blocks with a digital app and episodes of the PBS TV show Mia & Codie.

Together, the two organizations aim to help educators teach future-ready skills from children’s very first day of school.

"At Scratch, we believe that creativity, coding, and playful learning belong together," explains Margaret Honey, President & CEO, Scratch Foundation. "Our partnership with Codie Blocks brings these values to life in new ways by giving young learners joyful, screen-free entry points into coding. We're thrilled to collaborate with a team that shares our mission of making creative learning accessible to every child."

"We're honored to be recognized by Scratch as the leading gateway for early learners on the path to computational thinking," adds Don Moody, founder of Codie Blocks. "Codie Blocks gets students thinking like coders before they've even picked up a book. We're excited for this partnership to be able to help so many children with this new literacy."

Earlier this year, iCode, a US-based computer science education provider, added Codie Blocks to its nationwide curriculum to introduce coding to early learners. The program will be implemented across more than 70 iCode franchise locations as part of daytime early childhood classes.
