Chris Wiseman steps down as COO and Deputy CEO of E-ACT Multi Academy Trust

After more than a decade at the UK-based trust, Wiseman announced on LinkedIn that he is leaving his role.

Chris Wiseman, Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at E-ACT Multi Academy Trust, has announced on LinkedIn that he will step down from his role after 13 years with the organization. His final day was August 31.

E-ACT is a UK-based trust that runs 38 academies across England, supporting more than 25,000 students with around 2,500 staff. Founded in 2008, the trust has focused on addressing disadvantage and expanding opportunities for young people, with initiatives in governance, mental health, and inclusion.

Career at E-ACT

Wiseman first became involved with the trust in 2012 as a governor at Ilminster Academy. In 2015, he joined on a six-month project and remained for a decade. Over the years, he served in a variety of senior leadership positions across the C-suite.

Reflecting on his departure, Wiseman wrote: “A real mixture of sadness and pride. It has been an amazing experience since 2012 when I became a Governor at Ilminster Academy then joined for a 6 month project in 2015 and stayed 10 years!”

Acknowledgments and legacy

In his post, Wiseman thanked colleagues and trustees, as well as David Moran, who initially hired him. “So many Ops colleagues have been instrumental over the years and whilst you know who you are I will take the risk of naming some...” he wrote, naming a number of colleagues.

He also highlighted the trust placed in him by the E-ACT Board: “I was fortunate to experience every role across the C Suite during my time and I am grateful for the trust our Board had in me to do this Jim Knight and Michael Wemms.”

Wiseman concluded by looking ahead: “As I look forward to my next chapter I am excited about any opportunities to apply my experience. I am open to conversations about interim, permanent or consultancy roles where I can continue to make a difference. Thanks to my time with E-ACT there probably isnt a situation I haven't encountered. Here is to new beginnings and continued success for E-ACT.”
