CEA CAPA moves to expand global study abroad access with CIS Abroad and CISaustralia acquisition

The acquisition increases program access for U.S. and Australian students across Europe, Asia, and other regions.

CEA CAPA Education Abroad, an organization that delivers study abroad and international internship programs, has acquired CIS Abroad, CISaustralia, and Barcelona SAE from Global Educators.

CEA CAPA operates in 92 cities across 37 countries, offering academic and career-focused programs through study centers and university partnerships.

CIS provides education abroad programs for undergraduate students in the United States and Australia, working with over 200 colleges and universities each year.

Broader access for universities and students

The integration aims to expand study abroad options for universities and provide more standardized delivery models. It will also include programs that address high-enrollment fields such as business, engineering, psychology, and health sciences.

Jay Hegenbart, founder and managing partner of Infinedi, says, “For colleges and universities, the acquisition of CIS brings a host of advantages, including access to a larger and more diverse set of study abroad opportunities across Europe, Asia, and Australia, and ultimately the ability to meet the individual needs of more students—particularly students in high-demand majors such as business, engineering, psychology, health sciences, and more.

“Universities will benefit from more consistent educational delivery through standardized models across an expanded global footprint, and continued assurance of high-quality academics, student support, and rigorous health and safety protocols across the world.”

Next steps for integration

CEA CAPA will incorporate the CIS programs to introduce new study options, additional locations, and tailored pathways for students seeking academic or career development opportunities.

Beth Stiller, chief executive officer of CEA CAPA, says, “This integration brings together some of the partnerships, programs, locations, talent, and experience in the field of education abroad. It allows us to reach more students and have greater impact with more variety, quality, and care. Our desire is to not only bring our strengths and resources together, but to introduce new classes, study centers, and personalized pathways to help students achieve their academic and career goals.”

Carter Harned, partner at Infinedi, adds, “CEA CAPA’s mission is to empower students to be thoughtful and thriving leaders through living and learning abroad. With this combination, we are excited to provide the broadest access to transformative global experiences for students and to offer even more value and support to higher education partners.”
