Startups from University of Southampton pitch healthcare, AI, and space tech solutions at London Tech Week

Future Worlds Demo Day to showcase AI-powered bid writing tools, wearable diagnostics, and space propulsion technology as part of university accelerator program.

Future Worlds, a startup accelerator based at the University of Southampton, in the UK, will present six startups at its 2025 Demo Day on June 11 as part of London Tech Week. The event provides early-stage ventures with a platform to pitch to investors, mentors, and industry partners.

Founded in 2015, Future Worlds supports students and researchers from across the university in developing commercial ventures. The initiative combines mentorship, startup workshops, and access to funding networks in the U.K. and internationally. According to the program, Future Worlds startups have raised more than £110 million in investment to date.

This year’s cohort includes ventures in healthcare, artificial intelligence, and space technology, with founders drawing on both personal experience and academic research to build scalable products. The 2025 Demo Day marks the highest combined startup valuation since the event began.

Startups selected to pitch in 2025

Six startups have been selected for the final pitch round:

  • Mytender.io, founded by Samuel Aaron and Jamie Horsnell, is an AI-based platform that automates and enhances public sector bid writing.

  • Brainalyze, led by Sumeet Mahajan and George Devitt, is developing a laser-based blood test designed to detect early-stage dementia in five minutes.

  • Silatech, created by Alexandar Todorov, Georgi Pachov, and Plamen Dimitrov, offers contactless health monitoring for elderly individuals, with fall detection and illness alerts.

  • Droplet Scientific, founded by Junda Niu and Xize Niu, focuses on wearable biosensors for continuous, real-time biomarker tracking.

  • Bloctopus, formerly LZero Analytics, was developed by Til Jordan and Anisha Goel as a developer tool offering on-demand blockchain sandbox environments.

  • Eos Space Technology, founded by Szymon Dworski, Moe Ahmed, and Thomas Munro-O'Brien, is building scalable spacecraft propulsion systems aimed at extending mission duration.

Growing interest from investors and mentors

The Future Worlds accelerator received a record number of applications for Cohort 25. Participants attended a startup program in Silicon Valley and were selected based on investor interest and mentor feedback.

Dr. Alice Iles, Head of Tech Acceleration at Future Worlds, says: “Founding a startup is an incredible achievement in itself and Cohort 25 had the highest number of applications and was stronger than ever. These six founders have impressed us and our experienced partners and mentees all the way through our Cohort process, so we are confident that attendees at this year’s Demo Day will be inspired by what they have to offer.”
