ElevenLabs opens free AI tools to university students across US, UK, Europe and Australia
The new student plan includes three months of ElevenCreative, ElevenAgents and ElevenAPI, plus a year of ElevenReader Ultra for eligible university students aged 18 and over
ElevenLabs for Students gives eligible university students free access to the company’s AI voice, agent and development tools
ElevenLabs has launched a new student plan giving university students free access to its voice, agent and development tools, expanding an education program that has already reached more than 1,500 students through university professors.
ElevenLabs for Students is available to students aged 18 and over in the US, Canada, the EU27, UK and Australia, with further countries expected to follow.
The package includes three months of ElevenCreative, ElevenAgents and ElevenAPI, alongside a free year of ElevenReader Ultra, the company’s text-to-speech reader.
Rather than positioning the offer around one academic subject, ElevenLabs is targeting students using AI across creative work, research, application development and entrepreneurship.
Its existing student projects range from films and podcasts to research tools and AI agents. At the University of Pennsylvania, one team built a healthcare referral switchboard designed to route callers to appropriate providers and book appointments.
Another project, developed at a hackathon in Warsaw, used an agent to analyze pilot-to-pilot and pilot-to-controller radio communications in real time and flag potentially dangerous signals that could otherwise be missed.
From study tools to student-built agents
The company is also highlighting uses closer to day-to-day learning.
At an ElevenHacks event, one student created a voice AI study partner that allows users to upload textbook pages or PDFs and discuss the content with an agent, receiving feedback on their responses.
Student developer Bhavya Patel separately built a voice agent designed to alert social media users when content may contain misinformation or emotionally manipulative material.
ElevenLabs says students are already using its tools for film production, podcasts, music, research and application development.
The company frames the technology as a way to reduce the gap between an idea and a finished project rather than replace the work behind it.
“Our tools are built to work with human creativity, not around it,” ElevenLabs states. “They don't come up with the idea or do the thinking that makes a project someone's own; they close the distance between an idea and a finished piece.”
Professor program has reached 1,500 students
The direct student offer builds on ElevenLabs’ Impact Program x Professors initiative.
More than 350 professors across nearly 50 countries have joined the educator program, extending free access to ElevenLabs tools to more than 1,500 students.
Those uses span subjects from film production to constitutional law, with the company positioning voice technology as a way to support more multimodal approaches to learning and research.
The four products included in the new plan cover different use cases. ElevenCreative supports film, podcast, social content and storytelling production. ElevenAgents is used to build and deploy AI agents, including research assistants and automation tools. ElevenAPI gives students programmatic access to the company’s voice, sound and music models, while ElevenReader Ultra converts written material into audio.
The offer is not open globally at launch. Eligibility is currently limited to university students aged 18 and over in the US, Canada, EU27, UK and Australia.
