Udemy launches AI-powered microlearning to make existing courses into adaptive, short-form experiences
Udemy, an AI-powered learning platform, has announced the launch of a new microlearning experience on its platform.
The tool will be rolled out in phases, turning instructor-created long-form videos from existing Udemy courses into short-form experiences.
Udemy says that learners are increasingly favoring shorter, personalized experiences that easily fit into their daily workflows and content habits.
Instructors will be able to review, edit, and create or approve engaging microlearning content and activities created using their courses. Udemy says keeping a human instructor involved in the process ensures that content retains its quality.
Next year, Udemy will roll-out these microlearning experiences to courses on its website, mobile app and in enterprise learning environments.
“At Udemy, instructors are central to how skills are developed on our platform,” explains Hugo Sarrazin, President and CEO at Udemy. “AI enables us to adapt and scale their expertise, while our platform provides the context needed to personalize each experience and meet learners’ evolving needs.”
“We see instructors as creative directors and orchestrators of an AI-enhanced learning experience — curating, designing, and validating each component of the learner journey,” adds Zane Vella, Head of Content and Instructor Strategy at Udemy. “This model recognizes the essential role of human insights, perspective, and lived experience in teaching and learning, and reaffirms our commitment to the instructor community.”
