Conor Kelly joins Anthropic to lead product marketing for Model Context Protocol
Conor Kelly has joined Anthropic as Product Marketing Manager for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), a framework designed to make AI systems more capable by enabling them to securely access external data and tools. The announcement was shared in a recent LinkedIn post.
Anthropic, the San Francisco-based AI company behind the Claude family of models, developed MCP to give developers standardized methods for connecting AI systems to APIs, files, and databases. The goal is to improve model performance and reliability through better context integration — a key challenge for enterprise adoption of large language models.
Kelly previously led growth at Humanloop, a UK-based AI platform that evolved from prompt management to a large language model (LLM) evaluation platform serving clients including Duolingo and Gusto. Humanloop was acquired by Anthropic in July 2025, following two years of collaboration on AI evaluation and deployment infrastructure.
Reflecting on the move, Kelly wrote: “I’ve joined Anthropic as Product Marketing Manager for the Model Context Protocol (MCP). At Humanloop, I saw first-hand that most agents are constrained by the quality of data and tools available to them, not model intelligence.”
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) allows AI models to access live information securely and consistently across different environments. It is part of Anthropic’s strategy to make Claude and other AI systems more adaptable for real-world use cases in enterprise settings.
Kelly noted that this approach is already having measurable impact across the industry. “By making AI more connected to the world around us, MCP is rapidly fixing this. Startups are shipping more effective agents faster, enterprises are becoming AI-native, and end-users are getting powerful applications that can understand and do more for them.”
Kelly says: “I’m excited to be working with a world-class team to bring more connected, impactful and secure AI systems to the world.”
