Yun Jin Rho joins Western Governors University as Senior Director of Curriculum and Learning Analytics

Western Governors University has appointed Yun Jin Rho as Senior Director of Curriculum and Learning Analytics, furthering its mission to expand access to higher education through data-driven innovation.

Yun Jin Rho has announced her appointment as Senior Director of Curriculum and Learning Analytics at Western Governors University (WGU). The news was shared in a LinkedIn post reflecting on her transition from her previous role at Transfr.

Rho, who holds a Ph.D. in Applied Statistics with a focus on education and social science, brings extensive experience in data, research, and learning measurement. She previously served as Vice President of Intelligence at Transfr, an organization that builds immersive training tools to close skills gaps through virtual reality-based learning.

“After a meaningful journey at Transfr, last Friday was my final day, and I had the chance to say goodbye to friends and colleagues yesterday,” Rho wrote. “I am grateful for the partnership, trust, and learning we shared. I truly cherish our relationships and the mission we worked toward together.”

Advancing access through data and learning analytics

Western Governors University, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a nonprofit online university founded in 1997 by 19 U.S. governors. It offers competency-based degree programs designed to give adult learners flexibility in pursuing education and career goals. The institution currently serves more than 120,000 students nationwide.

In her new role, Rho will help lead WGU’s efforts to enhance curriculum and learning analytics to support student success. She said she is motivated by the university’s commitment to accessibility and measurable outcomes.

“I am inspired by WGU’s mission to expand access and impact for learners, and I am eager to help scale learning experiences that are rigorous, equitable, and measurable so that more students can succeed,” she wrote.

Rho emphasized her continued focus on using data and innovation to improve educational outcomes. “I look forward to continuing to make a difference in how data, innovation, and education transform lives,” she said.

She added that she remains “cheering for” her former Transfr colleagues and is “always here to support,” highlighting her continued commitment to collaboration across the education and technology sectors.
