VEX Robotics offers hands-on robotics, AI and aeronautics learning with new drone and robot

VEX Robotics has launched two new hands-on learning tools for AI, robotics and aeronautics aimed at schools and colleges.

Showcased at ISTELive 25, the VEX AIR Competition Drone and VEX AIM Coding Robot aim to provide middle, high school and college students hands-on experience in robotics, AI and aeronautics.

The VEX AIM Coding Robot is designed for use by middle and high school students helping to make complex AI concepts accessible and engaging. The technology also teaches students how to navigate real world problems. At ISTELive 25, VEX is also showcasing the VEX AIM Classroom Bundle, a multi-robot kit designed help teachers organize VEX AIM in the classroom.

The VEX AIR Competition Drone, VEX Robotics’ first drone product, offers students a chance to apply STEM concepts and prepare for careers in aerospace and robotics. The drone includes a dual joystick controller, interchangeable mission modules, sensors, cameras, and headset.

"At VEX Robotics, we are committed to empowering students with the skills and experiences necessary for the jobs of tomorrow," explains Jason McKenna, Vice President of Global Educational Strategy at VEX Robotics.

"With VEX AIR, we're providing students with a hands-on experience that bridges the gap between theoretical STEM concepts and real-world applications, preparing them for the future of technology and innovation. Simultaneously, VEX AIM is a continuation of our journey to make advanced concepts like AI universally accessible, ensuring all students can meaningfully engage with computer science and develop critical thinking."

Last year, VEX Robotics announced the launch of Switch, a new feature within its coding platform, VEXcode, aimed at helping students transition from block-based coding to Python. The feature is designed to make it easier for students to move from visual programming to text-based coding, addressing a challenge that often deters learners from pursuing computer science further.

RTIH AI in Retail Awards

Our sister title, RTIH, organiser of the industry leading RTIH Innovation Awards, proudly brings you the first edition of the RTIH AI in Retail Awards, which is now open for entries.

As we witness a digital transformation revolution across all channels, AI tools are reshaping the omnichannel game, from personalising customer experiences to optimising inventory, uncovering insights into consumer behaviour, and enhancing the human element of retailers' businesses.

With 2025 set to be the year when AI and especially gen AI shake off the ‘heavily hyped’ tag and become embedded in retail business processes, our newly launched awards celebrate global technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world and the resulting benefits for retailers, shoppers and employees.

Our 2025 winners will be those companies who not only recognise the potential of AI, but also make it usable in everyday work - resulting in more efficiency and innovation in all areas.

Winners will be announced at an evening event at The Barbican in Central London on Wednesday, 3rd September.
