Nord Anglia Education has appointed former Ticketmaster technology chief Carlos Alvarez as Chief Technology Officer, putting him in charge of technology strategy across the international schools group.

Alvarez joined Nord Anglia in October 2026 after more than 11 years at Ticketmaster, where he held several senior technology roles and served as Chief Technology Officer from 2020 until February this year.

His new role brings him into a school network spanning 89 schools in 37 countries and more than 100,000 students. Nord Anglia says its education strategy uses research, data and technology alongside professional development to support teaching and learning across the group.

Writing on LinkedIn after starting the role, Alvarez positioned education as a new direction after a career spanning more than two decades in technology.

“After many years in technology, the chance to put that experience to work in education is something I’m genuinely excited about,” he wrote.

Data, analytics and AI move into the remit

Alvarez said his work will include leading Nord Anglia’s technology strategy and examining how data, analytics and AI can be used across its schools:

“Working alongside colleagues across our global family of schools, I’ll lead our technology strategy and explore how data, analytics, and AI can help us improve educational outcomes, support our teachers, and enrich the experiences of our students and their parents.”

The appointment gives Nord Anglia a technology leader whose recent experience has been outside education, but at significant international scale.

Before becoming Ticketmaster’s CTO, Alvarez served as its Chief Technology Officer, International, SVP Technology and SVP International Platform & Technical Operations. Earlier roles included senior technology positions at Shopzilla Europe, eBay and Opodo.

His background covers development, operations, quality assurance and infrastructure, and he is TOGAF Enterprise Architect certified.

From global ticketing to international schools

Nord Anglia describes itself as the world’s largest premium international schools organization. Its schools operate across 37 countries, with technology forming part of a broader strategy that includes personalized learning, research and professional development.

For Alvarez, the appointment also marks a shift from technology businesses in sectors including travel, e-commerce and finance into K-12 education.

In his LinkedIn post, he said the purpose of the position was a central part of the move: “What drew me to this role is its purpose: using technology to support an outstanding education for every student.”

Alvarez began the Chief Technology Officer role at Nord Anglia Education in October 2026 and is based in the London area.
