Coursera has appointed Grant Parsamyan as Chief Data Officer, effective July 21, 2025, as the company deepens its investment in artificial intelligence and platform intelligence to support its global user base.

Leadership with extensive data expertise

Parsamyan brings more than 20 years of experience in data architecture, analytics, and enterprise infrastructure. He most recently served as Chief Data & Information Officer at Alludo, where he led digital transformation efforts across data engineering, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and cybersecurity.

Prior to that, he spent nearly a decade at OpenTable as senior vice president of Data Science and Analytics, building and scaling its data organization. His earlier leadership roles at eHarmony and Yahoo focused on data strategy for consumer platforms.

Greg Hart, Coursera’s chief executive officer, says Parsamyan’s experience will strengthen the company’s data and AI strategy. “Grant’s depth of experience in building large-scale data systems and leading data-first transformations makes him a terrific addition to Coursera’s leadership team. As we continue to expand our use of data and AI to improve learner outcomes and platform innovation, Grant’s leadership will be key to unlocking new growth opportunities for our global community,” Hart says.

Data at the center of Coursera’s next phase

Parsamyan says Coursera’s mission and timing are aligned with the evolution of AI-driven learning. “I’m excited to join Coursera at such a pivotal moment,” Parsamyan says. “Data is central to how Coursera creates tailored, scalable learning experiences and drives measurable value for learners, partners, and customers. I look forward to working with the team to advance our data and AI strategy and power the next phase of innovation.”

His appointment comes as Coursera introduces more AI-powered tools, including Coursera Coach, Course Builder, and AI translations and dubbing, which aim to make learning more personalized and accessible.
