École Polytechnique partners with Orange to support cybersecurity and AI research

France’s École Polytechnique has partnered with telecommunications giant Orange to support research and innovation on AI and cybersecurity.

The strategic partnership will be presented at a keynote talk from École Polytechnique’s President and Director Laura Chaubard, and Orange’s Director General Christel Heydemann at Orange Open Tech 2025.

Chaubard says: “With Orange, we share the belief that scientific excellence must serve the public interest and technological sovereignty. This partnership strengthens our efforts in two essential fields—AI and cybersecurity—and opens new perspectives for education, innovation, and the production of trusted technologies.”

Heydemann adds: “To face the major challenges of our time, Europe must equip itself with the means to achieve digital sovereignty. This partnership with École Polytechnique accelerates our investment in the critical technologies of tomorrow—responsible AI, quantum cybersecurity—while training a new generation of experts.

“It is by combining scientific excellence and industrial innovation that we will build a trusted European technological ecosystem.”

The two organizations have outlined priorities for the partnership including the creation of a joint center of excellence bringing together researchers, PhD students, and engineers. Orange will also support internships for École Polytechnique students and PhD candidates.
