The Aleto Foundation, a UK charity focused on leadership development for young people from underrepresented backgrounds, has partnered with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team to launch a nine-month leadership program.
The initiative was announced in a LinkedIn post and is intended for university students aged 19 to 25 who live within 75 miles of Silverstone.
The program is not focused on driving. Instead, it will expose participants to roles in engineering, data science, marketing, operations, and team management. Applicants must be in their second or third year of study and demonstrate an interest in careers within motorsport.
What participants can expect
According to the LinkedIn announcement, the program offers mentoring, career development workshops, and access to Formula 1 professionals. Students will also take part in structured team experiences and business insight sessions.
Aleto Foundation writes: “We’re calling on ambitious university students aged 19–25, from ethnic minority and low socio-economic backgrounds, who live within 75 miles of Silverstone and are passionate about Formula 1. This is not about driving, it’s about everything behind the scenes: engineering, data science, marketing, operations, team management.”
STEM Racing, a UK-based nonprofit that supports young people in STEM careers, responded to the announcement on LinkedIn, stating: “We love seeing programs like this from Aston Martin F1 Team and Aleto Foundation, driving real change in motorsport. Empowering the next generation, opening doors, and creating access where it’s needed most. Some of our own STEM Racing alumni have gone on to join this brilliant leadership initiative - a fantastic step toward becoming future motorsport leaders.”
Application process
The program includes a Leadership Challenge Day, online mentoring, and a final presentation, with applications expected to be highly competitive. Applicants will need to demonstrate both academic potential and a commitment to careers in motorsport.
Aleto Foundation concludes in its post: “This is not about driving, it’s about everything behind the scenes … Get direct access to F1 professionals, hands-on experiences, mentoring, and a powerful network that can help launch your career in motorsport.”
