Arizona Science Centre announces Dorrance DOME, the new name for the Dorrance Planetarium

Arizona Science Centre’s Dorrance Planetarium has been renamed Dorrance DOME, as it moved into immersive learning and storytelling. Using Cosm’s CX System LED Dome, the centre now offers 360º visuals and sound to bring science, art and the universe to life.

The Dorrance DOME will reopen to the public in October 2025, offering next-generation immersive experiences including a high-resolution LED dome display, Digistar planetarium software and a rich content ecosystem that offers “unparalleled visual clarity”.

“This name change reflects more than just a new look; it’s a reimagining of what a planetarium can be,” explains Jacquie Dorrance. “The Dorrance DOME will inspire generations to come, igniting curiosity and wonder in Arizonans through an immersive journey. It’s more than a digital dome; it’s a legacy of learning and discovery.”

“We are deeply grateful to Jacquie and Bennett Dorrance, whose visionary support, along with that of so many others, has made this extraordinary project possible," adds Board of Trustees Chair Robert Miller. "The Dorrance DOME will transform the Arizona Science Center into a landmark destination, not just for Arizonans but for visitors from around the world.”

The Dorrance DOME will seat 205 guests and offers an immersive experience from every angle. Its reopening is part of Arizona’s Science Center’s ambitious transformation plan, which aims to bring a new era of science learning and engagement to Phoenix.
