Transact + CBORD and ASSA ABLOY roll out mobile-first campus access across 100 sites
Collaboration focuses on integrating mobile-enabled wireless locks into existing campus ID systems to enhance security and convenience.

Transact Campus and CBORD have teamed up with global access solutions provider ASSA ABLOY to extend mobile-enabled wireless access across higher education campuses.
The companies have supported nearly 100 sites worldwide in shifting from mechanical keys to integrated mobile credential systems.
Founded in the United States, Transact Campus provides mobile-centric campus ID and commerce solutions, while CBORD offers integrated security and commerce technology for education, healthcare, senior living, and business campuses. ASSA ABLOY operates globally in door opening, trusted identity, and entrance automation technology.
Integrating with existing campus ID systems
The companies say the initiative is designed to work with the campus ID systems already in place, aiming to reduce complexity for IT departments and shorten the implementation process. Rasheed Behrooznia, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Transact + CBORD, says, “Together with ASSA ABLOY, we’re making it easier for schools to integrate this technology into the campus ID systems they already rely on—reducing complexity and speeding up adoption.”
Growing use of mobile credentials
The move aligns with an industry-wide increase in mobile credential adoption. HID Global’s 2024 State of Physical Access Control report found that nearly 40 percent of organizations now use mobile credentials, up from 32 percent in 2022.
ASSA ABLOY’s Head of U.S. Commercial Digital Access Solutions, Angelo Faenza, says, “ASSA ABLOY has a long, successful history teaming with Transact + CBORD to deliver the modern access experience students want. Together, we streamline everything from hardware selection to on-site commissioning, ensuring campuses get reliable, future-ready wireless locks from day one. We’re excited to work closely on initiatives ensuring a seamless and positive customer journey at every stage.”
Features and benefits for campuses
The companies cite several benefits to mobile-enabled locks, including faster lock deactivation when a device is lost, avoiding the need to rekey or replace physical keys. A joint network of security integrators and hardware specialists supports installation, integration, and maintenance.
Behrooznia adds, “Mobile-credential-driven wireless locks make residence halls more appealing to students while improving security over traditional brass keys. Together with ASSA ABLOY, we’re making it easier for schools to integrate this technology into the campus ID systems they already rely on—reducing complexity and speeding up adoption.”
