GBCC connects with Netcom Training to deliver AI and digital upskilling for business leaders

Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce names Netcom Training its technology training partner, launching short digital courses for members and non‑members, starting with an Intel-supported AI readiness workshop.

In the UK, Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce (GBCC) is partnering with Netcom Training as its official technology training partner, adding short digital skills courses to the Chamber’s new Business Services portfolio.

GBCC connects more than 3,000 businesses across the region, offering networking, policy influence, and support services. Netcom Training is an IT training provider with more than ten years of delivery experience and an Ofsted rating of Good since September 2022.

Richard Parker, Mayor of the West Midlands, says the initiative is central to regional growth plans. “Boosting digital skills and AI readiness for employers and business leaders is essential for driving economic growth and improved productivity.
That’s why my Growth Plan sets out an ambition to make Artificial Intelligence skills training available to every adult in the region, so that they are able to use AI to make their everyday lives easier – whether at home, work or in the community.”

First AI readiness workshop in September

The first course, AI Readiness Business Leaders, is scheduled for 11 September 2025 at Netcom’s offices at iCentrum in Birmingham. Delivered in partnership with Intel, the one-day session will cover fundamentals, show real world applications, and prepare organizations for AI adoption. Places are limited and the Chamber notes that access is open to both members and non-members. Pricing and full course details were not disclosed at launch.

Kevin Vashi, Managing Director at Netcom Training, says the goal is to provide practical tools. “We are proud to be GBCC’s official training partner. Together we will give leaders practical ways to use digital tools to positively impact the way they run their businesses. The AI for Business Leaders session will set the standard for accessible, relevant and future-focused business training in the region.”

Regional strategy and next steps

The Chamber’s Training Services operation has been created to help businesses develop skills that support innovation and expansion. Additional courses are planned following the September launch, with artificial intelligence and digital readiness highlighted as priority topics.

David Woakes, Head of Commercial Development at GBCC, says the collaboration aligns with both member needs and regional policy. “This is an excellent and exciting partnership for the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce as we re-launch our business services model with a range of training courses to support businesses in the region. The partnership with Netcom follows a recent policy support program and aligns both with the training needs identified by our members in the survey, but also the goals and ambitions set out by West Midlands Mayor, Richard Parker, in the recently announced Growth Plan.”
