UTSA teams up with ArcLight Academy to expand entry-level healthcare training
Partnership brings EMT Basic and other certification programs to UTSA PaCE students beginning this fall.

The University of Texas at San Antonio Professional and Continuing Education (UTSA PaCE) and ArcLight Education have formed a partnership to expand healthcare training options for students and staff, starting this fall.
UTSA PaCE provides professional and continuing education programs for adult learners. ArcLight Academy offers entry level medical certification courses and job placement support in San Antonio. ShurMed EMS, ArcLight’s sister company, will serve as the emergency medical service provider for UTSA athletics.
Programs and funding
The collaboration introduces EMT Basic at UTSA, with additional ArcLight Academy programs available locally. ArcLight lists Advanced EMT, Phlebotomy, EKG Technician, Mental Health Technician, and American Heart Association certifications. ArcLight says paid tuition and grants are available to most applicants, alongside job placement opportunities.
Training will run at ArcLight’s San Antonio facility and at UTSA’s downtown campuses. UTSA notes the goal is to improve career readiness for PaCE participants entering the regional healthcare workforce.
An executive from the partnership says, “We are excited for this partnership and believe this will help fill the much-needed entry level medical positions in San Antonio.”
