EdTech provider Efekta launches largest global AI tutoring trial for English learners in Latin America
Up to four million students aged 11 to 17 will gain access to AI-powered classroom and tutoring tools, as Efekta expands its personalized learning platform across the region.

Efekta Education Group has begun a large-scale rollout of its AI learning tools across schools in Latin America. The program, which will be the largest trial of AI-based teaching and tutoring to date, will involve up to four million students aged 11 to 17 and their teachers. It is designed to enhance English proficiency and free up teacher time by integrating AI into classroom instruction.
The initiative builds on Efekta’s previous success in the region and will assess the effectiveness of combining AI tutoring with teacher assistance across a variety of school environments.
Two AI tools with distinct classroom roles
The trial introduces two products:
Classroom AI, a tool for teachers that automates administrative tasks like grading and lesson preparation. The aim is to reduce workload and allow educators to concentrate on student engagement.
Addi, a student-facing AI tutor that offers adaptive English language content tailored to each learner’s level and progress.
These tools will be integrated into existing school curricula and accessed by students and teachers during regular class hours. Schools participating in the trial will receive onboarding support and usage guidance from Efekta’s implementation teams.
Informed by earlier success in Brazil
The trial follows a pilot in Paraná, Brazil, where 750,000 students used Efekta’s platform over two years. That program led to a 32 percent improvement in English test scores on the state’s standardized assessment.
While no formal end date for the new trial has been announced, results will be monitored closely by both Efekta and participating education authorities to evaluate progress in real time.
Addressing long-standing gaps in English proficiency
The rollout is targeting regions where classroom resources for English are often limited, and where teachers are tasked with managing large class sizes. The AI tools are intended to offer scalable, affordable support that complements traditional instruction rather than replacing it.
Stephen Hodges, CEO of Efekta, says:
“We’re excited to bring Efekta’s AI solutions, Classroom AI & Addi, to more classrooms. By blending AI with a structured curriculum, we give every student a chance to succeed and give teachers extra support. This program shows how technology, teamed with great teachers, can improve education at scale.”
