Canva, Eventify, and Led by Community C.I.C are hosting an AI hackathon in London on May 14, targeting event professionals and community builders looking to apply AI tools in operational workflows.
The session will take place at Canva’s London office and centers on hands-on use of Canva Code, with participants building tools tied to real event delivery challenges. The format reflects a wider push across the sector to move AI adoption beyond experimentation and into day-to-day workflows used by non-technical teams.
Focus shifts from awareness to application
The hackathon is structured as a working session rather than a presentation-led event. Participants will collaborate on building tools linked to attendee journeys, event operations, networking, speaker support, content workflows, reporting, and engagement.
Organizers state that no development experience is required, with the session designed for those directly involved in running events rather than engineering teams. The day includes an introduction to Canva Code, collaborative build sessions, and final presentations of working concepts.
Francisco Opazo, Head of Growth, Ecosystem & Field Marketing at Eventify and one of the organizers of the session, said in a LinkedIn post: “Event professionals should not be the last people to experiment with AI.”
He added: “We are the ones managing moving parts, pressure, last-minute changes, speaker needs, attendee journeys, reporting, and all the messy details in between.”
Community-led formats expand across AI skills development
Gonzalo Rosado Morgan, Community Lead for UKI at Canva, also shared details of the event via LinkedIn, positioning it as part of Canva’s broader community activity across education, creators, and small business users.
The collaboration brings together a design platform, an event technology provider, and a community-led organization, with the session focused on testing tools in live environments rather than presenting finished products.
This format is increasingly used to build AI capability across roles that are not traditionally technical, particularly in areas such as marketing, events, and content operations.

The hackathon will run from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on May 14, 2026, at The Bersey, Canva London, located at 293 Old Street. Attendees are required to bring a laptop, with entry limited to those arriving before 12:30 PM.
The session is open to professionals across the events sector, including agency teams, corporate event marketers, producers, operators, and community builders, alongside technical participants.
