STEM Racing has announced a series of fully funded professional development courses for teachers, delivered in partnership with Autodesk.
The initiative is designed to build confidence in teaching Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) using Autodesk Fusion.
STEM Racing works with schools to inspire students through race car design and manufacturing projects, while Autodesk provides software widely used in engineering, design, and manufacturing. The collaboration will give educators practical skills to guide students through CAD and CAM workflows directly in the classroom.
Course structure and availability
The first 12-hour Fusion Fundamentals CAD course will run in August and September, covering topics such as 2D sketching, 3D modeling, assemblies, and rendering. Sessions are scheduled for August 26th and 27th, and September 16th and 17th.
A second course, Fusion Fundamentals CAM, will take place in late September and early October. It will provide teachers with training in CNC integration, toolpath creation, and machining simulation.
Both courses are delivered online, free of charge, and open to educators in the UK, USA, Germany, and India.
Focus on classroom application
According to STEM Racing, the aim is to help teachers integrate CAD and CAM into STEM lessons by enabling students to design and manufacture their own race cars. The organization says the courses have been “developed specifically for STEM Racing, these hands-on, beginner-friendly courses will help you bring STEM learning to life — empowering your students to design and manufacture their own race cars right from your classroom.”
STEM Racing adds: “We’re proud to partner with Autodesk to offer a series of FREE CPD courses designed to boost your skills and confidence in teaching Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) using Autodesk Fusion.”
