Anthropic invites women in tech to tackle real-world challenges with Claude Code

The San Francisco hackathon will pair early-career builders with Anthropic mentors, with no prior Claude Code expertise required

Anthropic is inviting women in tech to spend a day building projects that address challenges affecting women, with support from its own teams. Applications are open for Code with Claude: Women in AI Hackathon, taking place at the company’s San Francisco office on November 6.

The event gives participants a chance to take a project through development and pitch it to Anthropic judges. A Claude Code workshop and lightning talks from company teams will feed into hands-on build sessions, with mentors supporting teams as they work through challenge tracks focused on issues affecting women.

Early-career builders are a particular focus. Announcing the event on LinkedIn, Aarushi Karickal, who works in Beneficial Deployments at Anthropic, emphasized that familiarity with the tool should not deter applicants: “it helps to have built something technical before, but you absolutely don't need to be a Claude Code expert coming in!”

Technical grounding counts, but Claude Code expertise is optional

The application criteria place weight on a connection to the women-in-tech community, an interest in social-impact work and enough technical grounding to build. The event listing points to completing a project, such as shipping a side project or pushing work to GitHub, as useful experience.

“We're looking for people with a real connection to the women-in-tech community, a sincere interest in social-impact work, and enough technical grounding to build,” the registration page states.

Places are subject to host approval and will be confirmed individually. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. PST on Friday, November 6, with applications through Luma closing Tuesday, October 27. Organizers aim to send decisions by Wednesday, October 28.
