Nord Anglia Education has announced that Mont’Kiara International School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, will join its global network of schools in August 2026.
The move will take Nord Anglia Education to 90 schools worldwide and 15 schools in Southeast Asia. Mont’Kiara International School will become Nord Anglia’s second school in Kuala Lumpur, joining the British International School of Kuala Lumpur.
Established in 1994, Mont’Kiara International School is an International Baccalaureate World School offering the full IB continuum: the Primary Years Programme, Middle Years Programme, and Diploma Programme. It also offers the US High School Diploma.
The school educates more than 700 students from over 45 nationalities in Kuala Lumpur’s Mont’Kiara neighborhood. Its International Baccalaureate curriculum will sit alongside the British curriculum offered by the British International School of Kuala Lumpur, giving families in the city a broader choice across Nord Anglia’s local provision.
After more than 25 years leading Mont’Kiara International School, Tan Sri M.S. Tan, Chairman of Mont’Kiara International School Sdn. Bhd., has chosen to entrust the school to Nord Anglia Education as he moves toward retirement.

Mont’Kiara International School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The campus includes science laboratories, arts spaces, and athletics areas supporting academic, sports, and arts provision.
Andrew Fitzmaurice, Chief Executive Officer at Nord Anglia Education, says: “We are delighted to welcome MKIS to the Nord Anglia Education family. The school’s strong reputation, International Baccalaureate offer, and vibrant international community make it an excellent fit for our growing global organisation and, together, we look forward to expanding opportunities for students, families, and educators in Kuala Lumpur.”
Tan says: “MKIS has always been committed to providing an exceptional international education in Kuala Lumpur and nurturing a close-knit, supportive community for our students and families. Joining Nord Anglia Education, the world’s leading schools organisation, ensures our school will continue to thrive thanks to our shared commitment to excellence.”
Students to access global learning programs
Once part of Nord Anglia Education, Mont’Kiara International School students will gain access to learning programs developed through the group’s collaborations with Massachusetts Institute of Technology, The Juilliard School, UNICEF, and IMG Academy.
Students will also join Global Campus, Nord Anglia’s digital learning platform that connects students across its global school network through collaborative projects, competitions, and challenges.
Mont’Kiara International School students will also be included in Nord Anglia’s approach to AI in teaching and learning. Nord Anglia says its schools support students to understand and use AI, while developing skills including collaboration, curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, commitment, and compassion.
The approach is underpinned by Nord Anglia’s research-led work, with impact evidenced through its global study with Boston College.
Professional learning for staff
The school’s more than 180 teaching and support colleagues will gain access to professional learning through Nord Anglia University.
That includes training with global partners and leadership development programs, including the Middle Leadership Programme, Senior Leadership Programme, and Aspiring Principals Programme.
Educators will also have the opportunity to pursue the Executive Master’s in International Education with King’s College London and collaborate with more than 22,000 educators across Nord Anglia Education’s global community.
Mont’Kiara International School is due to join Nord Anglia Education in August 2026. Its addition will give Nord Anglia two Kuala Lumpur schools, with International Baccalaureate and British curriculum routes operating in the same city.
