MIT Media Lab has announced the launch of Scalable AI Program for the Intelligent Evolution of Networks (sAlpien), aiming to define a responsible spectrum for AI.

The program supports organizations looking to shape the future of AI with impact, trust, auditability, and human-empowered design and aims to provide a foundation for ehtical AI development.
sAlpien will combine technical exploration with real-world experimentation, supporting large-scale transformation in data-rich environments.
The sAlpien program is guided by five principles:
AI Ecology encourages interdisciplinary systems thinking.
AI Literacy fosters informed leadership.
Data and Decision Integrity promotes transparent, accountable use.
Cross-Disciplinary Design ensures tools reflect domain-specific needs.
A Human-Centered Approach prioritizes dignity, usability, and inclusion.
Participants will be invited to engage with faculty and researchers exploring Perspective-aware AI, digital twins for health and planetary wellbeing.

Submissions are open to organizations across the UK, the Americas, and internationally. Entries should highlight measurable impact, whether in K–12 classrooms, higher education institutions, or lifelong learning settings.
Winners will be announced on 14 January 2026 as part of an online showcase featuring expert commentary on emerging trends and standout innovation. All winners and finalists will also be featured in our first print magazine, to be distributed at BETT 2026.
