WuKong Education kicks off "WuKong Global Reading Month" with "Little Clouds" Chinese graded readers

WuKong Education, an online learning provider for children, has launched its fourth annual "WuKong Global Reading Month" to align with United Nations Chinese Language Day and World Book Day.

This year, the company introduced "Little Clouds: WuKong Chinese Graded Readers," a new series of graded readers targeted at international learners aged 3-7. The initiative is designed to introduce young learners to Chinese literature through structured vocabulary and grammar levels.

Developed internally by WuKong Education with the collaboration of over 70 international Chinese education experts, the series aims to integrate the six major transdisciplinary themes of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB-PYP) with basic Chinese language principles and cognitive development stages for children.

The "Little Clouds" series consists of 22 stories, featuring over 200 original illustrations and designed to help children learn over 400 high-frequency Chinese words.

The approach and design of the series have been tailored to the needs of children living outside China, focusing on improving their reading skills and strategic thinking in the context of learning Chinese literature.

Wenjun Cai, from Harvard University’s Department of East Asian Languages and Civilisations, endorsed the series, stating:

"The series perfectly fits the reading habits and preferences of children living outside of China, opening the door to self-awareness, world exploration, and traditional cultural experiences for them.

“Not only does it inspire children's interest in reading, but it also significantly enhances their reading proficiency and strategic skills, comprehensively facilitates their language development,"

Alongside the launch of the new book series WuKong Education also carried out philanthropic efforts by providing reading materials and educational equipment to Banjar Tengkulak Kelod School in Indonesia.

Vicky Wang, CEO of Education, commented on the initiative:

"It's been a truly productive month and we're thrilled to introduce our Chinese graded reader series, a first of its kind. We take a lot of pride in the work we produce at WuKong, and we're sure Chinese learners around the world will find great use in this latest series."
